Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Greinke will not be on the trading block this offseason, as the Diamondbacks expect to compete in 2017, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
The Diamondbacks are certainly not in contention this year, sitting 18 games back in the NL West, but if they are to make a playoff push next season, their ace pitcher will surely need to be part of it.
The 32-year-old Greinke has struggled a bit this season, with a 4.17 ERA and a 3.99 SIERA -- his highest since 2006 -- through 22 games.
