Red Sox calling Yoan Moncada up to majors on Friday
Boston Red Sox infield prospect Yoan Moncada will be promoted to the major leagues on Friday.
Manager John Farrell indicated Wednesday morning that the 21-year-old would be promoted as "not just a pinch-runner" but to see regular action at third base as well. With Travis Shaw, Aaron Hill and Brock Holt all underwhelming on the hot corner for Boston, the uber-talented Cuban is looking like a must-own for the stretch run.
Moncada has slashed .298/.411/.518 with 15 dingers and 45 steals in 105 games (486 plate appearances) this season between High-A Salem and Double-A Portland.
