Mets' Neil Walker will likely undergo back surgery
New York Mets infielder Neil Walker will likely undergo surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back, according to manager Terry Collins.
Walker has been out of the lineup since Saturday, and while he was originally hoping to play through the injury, that plan is obviously out if he goes through with surgery, and it would sideline him for the remainder of the season.
Walker has put up some solid numbers this year, slashing .282/.347/.476 through 458 plate appearances, with a .350 wOBA and .194 ISO that are both well above his career averages.
