Ozhaino Albies may not be September call-up for Braves
Atlanta Braves prospect shortstop Ozhaino "Ozzie" Albies may not be called up to the majors in September, Mark Bowman of MLB.com writes.
Albies remains a promising prospect for the long-term, but he's still just 19 years old and he struggled during a stint in Triple-A earlier this season. He's not on the 40-man roster yet, and fellow top prospect Dansby Swanson is already manning shortstop, so there's no need to push him if they don't think he's ready. Bowman writes that there's still a chance Albies could be projected to begin 2017 as the starting second baseman with the big club. Jace Peterson is simply a gap filler.
In 308 plate appearances with the big-league club, Peterson has a solid .323 wOBA, due to his .359 OBP. His .388 slugging percentage leaves something to be desired, though.
