Alex Reyes will start for Cardinals on Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Alex Reyes will make his first major league start on Saturday in place of starting pitcher Mike Leake, who is dealing with shingles.
Reyes is carrying an ERA of 0.00 into his start in just over nine innings of work out of St. Louis' bullpen, so it will be interesting to see if he can carry over that dominance into his first major league start. The 21 year-old does get the luxury of going against the Oakland Athletics, who rank 27th in team wOBA this season at .303.
Reyes has gone scoreless in his 9 1/3 innings out of the bullpen so far this season. He has allowed five hits and walked four during his brief time in St. Louis over five appearances. He has an impressive 37.1 strikeout rate and 0.96 WHIP in the majors so far.
