Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander earned his 14th victory of the season on Friday, allowing just two runs on four hits over 7 2/3 innings against the Los Angeles Angels.
Verlander walked only one batter on the day and after allowing a first inning homer to Albert Pujols, he settled in until the eighth inning when Kole Calhoun hit an RBI double off him. His eight punch outs was his most in a game since August 5th.
Verlander has a 3.33 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over 181 innings after Friday's game. He owns a 26.2 strikeout rate and a 2.88 nERD in 2016.
