Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen had a home run and three RBI's on 3-for-5 hitting on Thursday as the Pirates came away with a 3-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in extra-innings.
McCutchen had been having a quiet month, with only two home runs, seven runs scored and nine RBI's through 18 games (80 plate appearances) in August before Thursday's impressive showing.
It has been a real down year for McCutchen, who is slashing .250/.329/.419 through 511 plate appearances, with a career-low .322 wOBA and a .169 wOBA that is his second-lowest through eight major league seasons.
