Joe Mauer remains absent from Twins lineup Thursday
Minnesota Twins first baseman Joe Mauer is out of the starting lineup Thursday afternoon against the Detroit Tigers.
Trevor Plouffe is starting at first base and Eduardo Escobar will be on third for Minnesota. Mauer could be facing another flareup of soreness in his quad, as he didn't play on Wednesday either.
Mauer owns a .276/.375/.404 slash with a .337 wOBA and .129 ISO in 499 plate appearances this season. His 13.6 walk percentage and 16.0 strikeout percentage are both above his career averages.
