Padres' Tyson Ross (shoulder) ready for rehab outing
San Diego Padres pitcher Tyson Ross (shoulder, ankle) is set to begin a rehab assignment Thursday with High-A Lake Elsinore.
Ross will be strapped with a 45-pitch limit for the outing. A shoulder injury put him on the disabled list back in April and then he sprained his ankle while exercising on July 6. Assuming there are no other setbacks, the 29-year-old right-hander could be back in the Padres' rotation sometime in the middle of September.
2016 has been a lost season for Ross. He was coming off an impressive 2015 campaign, posting a 3.15 xFIP and a 25.8 strikeout percentage (11th-best) in 196 innings pitched.
