Angels' Huston Street expected to have knee surgery

Los Angeles Angels reliever Huston Street is expected to undergo season-ending knee surgery.

What It Means:

This is a fitting end to what has been a lost year for Street. He was rarely healthy this season and performed poorly even when he was, posting a 6.45 ERA over 22 1/3 innings. Rookie Cam Bedrosian, currently on the disabled list, has surpassed Street and would likely be the favorite for save opportunities if he were healthy. Over the past few weeks, Fernando Salas has acted as the team's closer. The Angels' bullpen owns a 4.46 xFIP this season, which ranks third-worst.

Street will end his season with a whopping 5.99 xFIP and career worsts in both strikeout percentage (13.33) and walk percentage (11.43). He's just a season removed from posting a 3.18 ERA in 62 1/3 innings.
