Miami places Derek Dietrich (knee) on 15-day disabled list

The Miami Marlins placed infielder Derek Dietrich on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee contusion, retroactive to August 19.

What It Means:

This makes room on the roster for Oswaldo Arcia, who the Marlins claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays. Dietrich hit .303 prior to the the All-Star break in 273 plate appearances, but has struggled in the second half, hitting just .195 in 87 plate appearances.

Overall for the season, Dietrich is slashing .276/.369/.403 with four home runs and a .339 wOBA. We currently project him to continue to struggle over the remaining course of the season, posting just a .689 OPS.
