Josh Bell starting at first base Monday for Pirates
Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Josh Bell will start at first base and bat sixth Monday against the Houston Astros.
What It Means:
This will be Bell's second straight start at first base and against a right-handed pitcher. It looks like he will have the chance to steal the starting first base gig from John Jaso, who has struggled to a .167 batting average in the second half.
The 24 year-old Bell has just nine plate appearances this season, his first in the big leagues, but has tallied three hits, including one home run. He posted a .379 wOBA and hit 14 home runs in 484 plate appearances in Triple-A this season.
