Neil Walker (back) remains sidelined as Mets square off with San Francisco

New York Mets infielder Neil Walker (back) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the San Francisco Giants.

What It Means:

This will be three straight that Walker has missed with stiffness in his lower back. He was hoping to make it back Thursday, but remains day-to-day. T.J. Rivera is starting at second base and hitting second versus Giants ace southpaw Madison Bumgarner.

Walker is slashing .279/.341/.470 this season, and his .345 wOBA and .356 ISO through 440 plate appearances are both the second-best marks of his eight-year career.
