Craig Kimbrel unavailable Wednesday for Red Sox
Boston Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel will not be available for Wednesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.
After pitching in back-to-back contests, this is just a routine day off for Kimbrel. In addition to his recent workload, Kimbrel underwent surgery on his left knee earlier this season and is still working to regain his strength. If the Red Sox face a save opportunity on Wednesday, they will likely give the ball to Brad Ziegler and his 2.77 ERA this season.
Kimbrel owns a 3.23 ERA, 3.36 xFIP, 21 saves and a massive 37.89 strikeout percentage (league average is 20.98 percent) in 39 innings pitched this year. We project him to record a 2.96 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP on his way to nine more saves over the remaining course of the season.
