The Chicago Cubs placed reliever Joe Smith on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.

He owns a 4.14 ERA across 41 1/3 total innings this season with the Cubs and Los Angeles Angles. The 32 year-old setup man will likely need a lengthy rehab assignment in the minors before rejoining the Cubs bullpen.
