Jhonny Peralta not in Cardinals' lineup versus Houston

St. Louis Cardinals infielder Jhonny Peralta is out of the lineup Wednesday afternoon against the Houston Astros.

What It Means:

Peralta is dealing with problems in his left thumb, while his .234 batting average this season is his lowest since the 34-year-old's rookie campaign with the Cleveland Indians, back in 2003. Greg Garcia is starting at short for St. Louis, with Kolten Wong at second base and Jedd Gyorko on third in Wednesday's series finale.

Peralta's .177 ISO is actually an improvement on his .158 career-average, while his .293 wOBA is a good ways behind the .329 average he's compiled for his career. He has six home runs and 17 RBI's in 168 plate appearances on the year, with a disappointing -0.30 nERD.
