Aroldis Chapman notches two-out save for Cubs
Chicago Cubs closer Aroldis Chapman notched a two-out save in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Cubs entered the ninth inning with a 4-0 lead, so Cubs manager Joe Maddon gave Joe Smith the initial call. However, Smith walked two batters forcing Maddon to turn to Chapman, who struck out the first batter he faced and then induced a foul out to end the game. He's now 5-for-6 in save opportunities since joining the Cubs, posting a 0.96 ERA and a whopping 46.67 strikeout percentage in 9 1/3 innings.
For the season, Chapman owns a 1.77 ERA, 1.90 xFIP and a 38.67 strikeout percentage (league average is 20.98 percent) across 40 2/3 innings. We project him to record a 2.22 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP over the remaining course of the season.
