Nathan Eovaldi diagnosed with torn flexor, UCL for Yankees

New York Yankees pitcher Nathan Eovaldi has been diagnosed with a torn flexor tendon and a partial UCL tear.

What It Means:

Eovaldi's flexor tendon tore completely off the bone and he will have season-ending surgery within the next few days. It's possible that his rehab and recovery could extend through all of next season. The 26 year-old is already on the disabled list.

Eovaldi will finish the 2016 campaign with a 4.76 ERA, a 4.21 xFIP and a career high 18.48 strikeout percentage (league average is 20.98 percent) in 124 2/3 innings pitched.
