Chad Green strikes out 11 Blue Jays in Yankees' win Monday
New York Yankees pitcher Chad Green dealt 6 shutout innings on Monday, striking out 11 and allowing 2 hits as the Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 1-0.
It was by far the best of Green's nine major league appearances, as his only shutout games before this one saw him play fewer than four innings, while his previous career-high strikeout total was only eight.
Green is looking like a promising prospect, and after posting a 1.52 ERA in 16 Triple-A starts this year, he has a 3.06 SIERA and a 28.78 percent strikeout rate through 33 1/3 major league innings.
