Mets' Zack Wheeler (elbow) will see specialist Wednesday
New York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler (elbow) is now expected to see Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday.
Wheeler, who is working his way back from Tommy John surgery, was scratched from his scheduled rehab start Friday due to renewed discomfort in his elbow. He was expected to see Dr. Andrews on Monday, but either way he's now very likely to miss his second straight full season.
Wheeler showed lots of promise when he last pitched in 2014, posting a 3.49 xFIP and a 23.55 strikeout percentage (league average was 20.36) across 185 1/3 innings.
