Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Steven Wright (shoulder) is aiming to return to the rotation next Tuesday at Tampa Bay against the Rays.
Wright jammed his right shoulder in a pinch-running situation last week, forcing him to be placed on the disabled list Sunday, retroactive to August 8. He's heading home to California Monday, due to a family matter, but expect the 31-year-old righty to be back with the Red Sox by the end of the week.
Wright owns a 3.01 ERA and a 4.39 xFIP in 146 2/3 innings this season, to go with a 20.16 strikeout percentage (league average is 20.99 percent). We project him to record a 3.54 ERA, with a 1.23 WHIP, across 56 innings over the rest of the year.
