Tyler Glasnow leaves rehab start, to be reevaluated for Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (shoulder) is headed back to Pittsburgh for a reevaluation after experiencing discomfort Sunday in a rehab start with Double-A Altoona.

What It Means:

"We saw that he was feeling uncomfortable and was doing some strange stuff with his arm," Altoona manager Joey Corta informed reporters following the outing. Glasnow had to cut things short after just three innings and 56 pitches (he was scheduled to go either four innings or 65-70 throws). A right shoulder issue has kept the 22-year-old right-hander on the disabled list since July 24, and he may be forced to restart his rehab from the beginning, which would potentially signal the end of his 2016 season.

Glasnow only has two major league starts under his belt, and he has struggled across a combined 8 1/3 innings, posting a 5.43 ERA, 4.19 SIERA, 17.95 percent strikeout rate and 12.82 percent walk rate.
