Ryan Howard slugs grand slam in Phillies' win Friday

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard stayed hot Friday against the Colorado Rockies by going 3-for-5 with a grand slam, five RBI's, and two runs scored as part of a 10-6 victory.

What It Means:

Howard has had a dismal season, but he has been scorching in August. Howard is 10-for-20 this month with three homers and 10 RBI's and he did most of that work on Friday with a huge day at the plate. His grand slam was his 14th of his career and it will be interesting to see if Howard can continue his vintage performance for the rest of the season.

Howard is slashing just .195/.244/.435 with 17 homers and 40 RBI's over 246 at bats this season. He’s gone 24-for-75 with seven homers and 19 RBI's over his last 27 games.
