Cubs' Pedro Strop (torn meniscus) lands on 15-day disabled list
Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Pedro Strop was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a torn meniscus in his left knee.
Strop is expected to be sidelined for four-to-six weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on Friday. Fortunately, his ligaments are still in tact, so the injury isn't as severe as it potentially could have been. Justin Grimm has been promoted from Triple-A Iowa and will replace Strop on the Cubs' active roster.
Strop is having the best year of his career, posting career-bests in SIERA (2.35), strikeout rate (32.37 percent) and walk rate (7.51 percent) through 43 2/3 innings on the season.
