Arodys Vizcaino (oblique) may be ready next week for Braves
Atlanta Braves pitcher Arodys Vizcaino (oblique) is on track to return to the bullpen late next week.
Vizcaino completed a simulated game Wednesday in Florida without any hiccups, so he has a good chance of being cleared Thursday to start a rehab stint in the minors. The 25-year-old right-hander will probably need three or four rehab outings before returning to Atlanta's bullpen, which he can complete by the end of the Braves' next homestand (August 16-21). Jim Johnson has been holding down closing duties during Vizcaino's absence.
Vizcaino has posted a 3.65 xFIP, to go with a 28.83 strikeout percentage (league average is currently 21.01 percent) across 36 innings. Over the past two seasons, he has four blown saves in 23 opportunities.
