Yankees release Ike Davis
The New York Yankees released first baseman Ike Davis.
The Texas Rangers released Davis in mid-June, as well. The Yankees opted to take a flier on the 29-year-old first baseman, but he saw just 14 at-bats in the Bronx. The Yankees designated him for assignment just a few weeks after signing him. He passed through waivers and they sent him outright to Triple-A.
Davis saw 239 plate appearances in 2014 with the Oakland Athletics, slashing .229/.301/.350 with a .288 wOBA.
