Jose Bautista placed on disabled list by Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Jose Bautista on the 15-day disabled list with a left knee sprain.

What It Means:

We reported earlier today that this was a possibility, and after Toronto received the results of Bautista's MRI, they decided to allow him to rehab in-full, instead of him trying to fight through the injury. Bautista's timetable to return is not yet know. The Blue Jays called-up Junior Lake, who owns a .317 wOBA in 291 plate appearances for Toronto's Triple-A affiliate this season, to replace him on the roster.

Bautista is having a down year by his standards, hitting .222/.349/.444 through 355 plate appearances, with a .343 wOBA and .222 ISO that are both his lowest since 2009.
