San Francisco Giants outfielder Denard Span is getting the day off Wednesday against right-hander David Phelps and the Miami Marlins.
Gregor Blanco will man center field for San Francisco and hit eighth, while Eduardo Nunez leads off versus Miami. Span struggled to an 0-for-4 line with a strikeout on Tuesday.
On the year, Span is putting up career-lows with a .304 wOBA and .262 batting average through 463 plate appearances, while his .357 slugging percentage is the worst since his 2010 campaign.
