Brandon McCarthy still expected to start for Dodgers Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Brandon McCarthy remains penciled in for his scheduled start Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Dodgers will stick with McCarthy for now, despite failing to make it out of the fourth inning Sunday versus the Boston Red Sox. He's also been handing out free passes like candy, walking 10 hitters in his past two outings. The 33-year-old right-hander will tune up for Saturday's start with a Tuesday bullpen session.
McCarty owns a 3.00 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with a 26.52 strikeout rate across 33 innings (seven starts) this season. Our models currently project a 3.62 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over the rest of the year.
