Marlins' Ichiro Suzuki becomes 30th member in 3,000-hit club
Miami Marlins right fielder Ichiro Suzuki hit a triple in the seventh inning on Sunday, giving him his 3,000th career hit, making him the 30th player in major league history to crack that mark.
Ichiro was already 27 years old when he recorded his first hit, while nobody else in the 3,000 hit club had turned even 24 when they picked up their first.
At 42 years old, Ichiro's best years are behind him, but he has still managed a solid .341 wOBA through 232 plate appearances on the season, while his 0.58 nERD ranks 130th in the majors. A career .315/.357/.405 hitter, Ichiro's 3000 hits have come in 10333 plate appearances.
