Arodys Vizcaino (oblique) throws off mound for Braves
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Arodys Vizcaino (oblique) threw a bullpen session on Friday.
This was his first action on the mound since suffering a strained oblique three weeks ago. What comes next is unknown, but the fact he made it through Friday without any issues suggests a return could be in the near future. Jim Johnson will likely continue to hold down closer duties for Atlanta while Vizcaino is sidelined.
Johnson has been serviceable for the Braves, owning a 3.79 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 40 1/3 innings pitched this season. He has a 21.89 percent strikeout rate on the year. Vizcaino twirled a 3.00 ERA and 28.83 strikeout percentage across 36 innings before going down with the injury.
