A.J. Reed

Astros' A.J. Reed sitting out on Friday

Houston Astros first baseman A.J. Reed is absent from the starting lineup Friday against the Texas Rangers.

What It Means:

With the Rangers starting lefty Martin Perez on Friday, Marwin Gonzalez -- and his .309 wOBA this season -- will start at first base in Reed's place. Since being called back up to the majors on Tuesday, Reed has yet to record a hit in seven plate appearances.

Since being demoted to Triple-A in mid-July, Reed hit .436 with a .558 wOBA and seven extra-base hits in 11 games. Our projections don't view him favorably over the rest of the year, forecasting a .175/.250/.275 slash with a .234 wOBA.
