MRI comes back clean for Tigers' Jordan Zimmermann
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann had a clean MRI on his right lat.
The lat issue is separate from a neck injury that forced Zimmermann to the disabled list for the past month before returning Thursday. He was awful from the beginning against the White Sox, plunking the first hitter he faced and allowing two homers, without any strikeouts, before being pulled.
Zimmermann now owns a 4.44 ERA and a 4.66 xFIP in 97 1/3 innings this season. His strikeout percentage fell to 14.63, well below the league average of 21.02 percent. We currently project Zimmermann to record a 4.25 ERA and a 15.19 strikeout percentage over the rest of the year.
