Dodgers' Bud Norris diagnosed with strained back
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Bud Norris was diagnosed with a mild mid-back strain after undergoing an MRI.
Norris was acquired from the Atlanta Braves in late June to provide some injury relief for the sidelined Clayton Kershaw (back), but now it appears the 31-year-old right-hander will be joining Kershaw on the shelf. The injury occurred Sunday during a convincing victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Norris owns a 4.26 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 21.85 strikeout percentage across 99 1/3 innings of work this season. His 1.90 nERD ranks him inside the top-100 among qualified major league pitchers.
