Steve Cishek placed on Mariners disabled list
Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Steve Cishek was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a torn labrum in his left hip.
Cishek had his closer role relinquished after a collapse Monday against the Boston Red Sox, so this just makes a rough week worse. There's a chance that this could put him on the shelf for the rest of the season, particularly if he has to go under the knife. For context, Tim Lincecum was sidelined until June after receiving surgery in September for a similar injury. Cishek's fantasy relevance in 2016 is kaput.
The 30-year-old right-hander owns a 3.40 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and career-high 31.31 strikeout percentage across 47 2/3 innings of work this season.
