Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Michael Saunders is not in the Blue Jays' lineup Thursday against the Houston Astros.
It's a routine day off for Saunders, who has struggled to a .132 batting average (7-for-53) in the second-half of the season. Melvin Upton will replace him in left and bat sixth for the Blue Jays against Houston right-hander Mike Fiers.
Despite the second-half slump, Saunders has put up career-best numbers this year for Toronto, recording a .274/.359/.520 slash and .372 wOBA with a .246 ISO in 410 appearances at the plate. He has 19 home runs, 46 RBI's and a 2.09 nERD that ranks 33rd in the majors.
