Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher prospect Jake Thompson has a "good-to-solid chance" of replacing Aaron Nola (elbow) in the rotation, said manager Pete Mackanin.
There's a chance that Nola's elbow injury will require season-ending surgery, putting Thompson in the spotlight. On a positive note, the Phillies and their fans would be able to see one of their premier prospects in action.
The 22-year-old Thompson owns a 2.50 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 16.83 strikeout percentage across 129 2/3 innings with Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season.
