Lance McCullers (elbow) hits disabled list for Astros
The Houston Astros placed pitcher Lance McCullers on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow soreness.
McCullers left Tuesday's start against the Toronto Blue Jays early due to discomfort in his elbow. He also had a shoulder injury earlier this year, so 2016 hasn't exactly been a clean medical year for the 22 year-old. A timetable for McCullers' return is not yet known. He's been impressive when healthy, posting a 3.22 ERA and a 30.11 strikeout percentage in 81 innings this season.
McCullers ERA doesn't appear to be fluky either, as his xFIP this season is 3.04. We currently project him to record a 4.04 ERA and a 21.30 strikeout percentage (just above league average) over the rest of the year.
