Aaron Nola lands on disabled list for Phillies due to sprained elbow
The Philadelphia Phillies placed pitcher Aaron Nola on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow sprain.
In a corresponding move, pitcher Phil Klein will be recalled and start Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants. Nola struggled over the past two months, posting an 8.31 ERA in nine starts, but the Phillies maintained that Nola wasn't dealing with any physical issues. It's unknown how long he might be sidelined.
Nola owns a 4.78 ERA for the season in 111 innings pitched, but his 3.06 xFIP -- which ranks fourth-best -- is significantly better. His 2.34 nERD currently ranks 37th in the bigs.
