Rockies lose Trevor Story to torn thumb UCL
The Colorado Rockies placed shortstop Trevor Story on the 15-day disabled list with a torn UCL in his left thumb.
The injury occurred when Story jammed his left thumb on Saturday against the New York Mets. This is devastating news, as it could be a season-ender for Story, a potential 2016 National League Rookie of the Year winner. He owns a .909 OPS, 27 home runs and 72 RBI's in his first 415 plate appearances in the big leagues.
Story's .380 wOBA ranks 19th best and his .296 ISO ranks third-best. The Rockies are 4.5 games out of a playoff spot and we give them just a 2.8 percent chance of making the postseason. Story's absence certainly won't help these odds.
