Houston recalls A.J. Reed from Triple-A Fresno

The Houston Astros recalled first baseman A.J. Reed from Triple-A Fresno.

What It Means:

This was an expected move and now it's official. Reed was demoted to the minors on July 22, but has been on a tear since, and the Astros are hopeful that the success will translate to the majors. Reed hit just .156 (7-for-45) with 19 strikeouts in 17 games during his first stint in the big leagues. His upside (.385 ISO in Triple-A this season since July 22) makes him worth another gamble in fantasy leagues.

Reed hit .436 with a .558 wOBA and seven extra-base hits in 11 games in Triple-A since being sent back down. He'll hit seventh on Tuesday against knuckleballer R.A. Dickey of the Toronto Blue Jays. The potential for a home run is definitely in play.
