Blue Jays confident Troy Tulowitzki (thumb) will avoid disabled list
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki (thumb) will avoid a stint on the disabled list, general manager Ross Atkins said Monday.
Tulowitzki was hit by a pitch on Sunday that caused a small chip fracture in his right thumb. Ryan Goins will fill in at shortstop on Monday, but the Blue Jays are optimistic that the 31-year-old will avoid an extended stay on the shelf.
Tulowitzki had been on a tear since his June 18 return from a leg injury, slashing .295/.340/.566 with a .380 wOBA in 331 plate appearances. Our models have that production falling off a bit though, forecasting a .256/.333/.450 slash with a .337 wOBA over the remainder of the season
