Mets moving Brandon Nimmo, two others for Reds' Jay Bruce

The New York Mets are trading outfielder Brandon Nimmo and two low-level prospects for Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jay Bruce.

What It Means:

A deal is expected to be finalized within the hour. Bruce will have a $13 million club option for 2017, providing the Mets with some Yoenis Cespedes insurance in the event that he opts out of his contract this winter.

Bruce is having a great year, slashing .265/.316/.559 with a career-high .363 wOBA in 402 plate appearances, contributing to a 1.80 nERD that ranks 44th in the majors. His .295 ISO is a career-high, while he's added 25 home runs and 80 RBI's (fourth-most in MLB). Nimmo owns a .271 wOBA in 60 plate appearances this season.
