Reds' Homer Bailey picks up victory in season debut

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Homer Bailey had a strong outing in his return to major league play, allowing two runs four hits in 5 2/3 innings as the Reds bested the San Diego Padres.

What It Means:

While it's obviously a small sample, Bailey, who last played two major league games in 2015, missing extensive time due to Tommy John surgery, looked like he may be returning to his pre-injury form. He added six strikeouts and three walks in the outing.

In 2014, his last full season, Bailey posted a 3.60 SIERA and a 20.53 percent strikeout rate, better numbers than his career averages of a 3.96 SIERA and 19.45 percent strikeout rate.
