Andrew Miller

Indians agree with Yankees on deal for Andrew Miller

The Cleveland Indians acquired left-handed pitcher Andrew Miller from the New York Yankees in exchange for outfielder Clint Frazier, left-handed pitcher Justus Sheffield and right-handed hurlers Ben Heller and J.P. Feyereisen.

What It Means:

It's a rich package, but the Indians are making moves with the World Series in mind, and Miller is arguably the best reliever in the bigs. The 31-year-old southpaw is making $9 million this season, as well as the next two. The Indians will move Cody Allen into a setup role, while Dellin Betances is taking over as closer for the Yankees.

Miller ranks fifth in the majors with a 0.77 WHIP, and he's sporting an outstanding 1.16 SIERA and 44.77 percent strikeout rate with only a 4.07 percent walk rate across 45 1/3 innings of work. We project him for a 2.51 ERA (the 12th-best in our projections) with 12 more saves (second-most) over the remainder of the season.
