Rick Porcello goes distance as Red Sox beat Angels
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Rick Porcello gave up only two runs in a dominant complete game to lead Boston to a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday.
Porcello scattered five hits across nine innings with three strikeouts and no walks on the night. His 14 wins are now in a four-way tie for the most in the majors this season and he gets a chance at number 15 on Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners.
Porcello owns a 3.47 ERA and a 2.54 nERD which ranks 21st in the major leagues this season. He has thrown an impressive 135 innings this and our models project him to continue to get better down the stretch with a 3.52 ERA and 17.80 strikeout rate over 74 1/3 innings left this year.
