Pirates' Francisco Cervelli departs Friday with ankle injury
Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli had to be pulled from Friday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers after getting hit on the right ankle by a pitch while behind the plate.
Cervelli just got back from the disabled list and Friday was not a good sign for the Pirates' catcher. He had to be helped off the field by trainers and it looked like he couldn't put any weight on his ankle. Hopefully Pittsburgh will have an update on Cervelli before Saturday's game.
Cervelli is slashing .258/.361/.295 in 227 plate appearances this season. He has not hit a home run this season, contributing to a poor .037 ISO, as well as a .304 wOBA. Our models project him to hit .264/.350/.358 with one home run and a .306 wOBA over the rest of the year.
