New York Mets closer Jeurys Familia will not be available as his club takes on the Colorado Rockies on Thursday, according to manager Terry Collins.
Familia pitched two days in a row, and Wednesday was one of his worst performances in a long time, as he allowed two walks, two hits and two earned runs, breaking a streak of 52 converted save opportunities.
Familia has dealt a 3.27 SIERA with a 24.10 percent strikeout rate this season, and he leads all pitchers with 36 saves. We project him for a 3.25 ERA and 22.80 percent strikeout rate over the remainder of the season.
