Dan Straily turns in a gem for Reds in victory

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Dan Straily pitched well in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the San Francisco Giants, surrendering one run on three hits over 7 2/3 innings.

What It Means:

Straily added five punchouts on the afternoon, walking just one. It was an outing to remember for the 27-year-old right-hander, who out-pitched National League Cy Young candidate Madison Bumgarner in the victory for Cincinnati. A Conor Gillaspie solo shot in the bottom of the third was the only blemish on Straily's line. He will look to carry the positive momentum into a home date against the St. Louis Cardinals his next time up.

Straily has now twirled a 3.84 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with a 19.40 strikeout percentage across 122 innings of work this season. He's 6-6 through 19 starts.
