Vance Worley may have start skipped by Orioles
Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Vance Worley will probably be skipped over in the rotation against the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend, manager Buck Showalter said.
Per Showalter, Worley should be available out of the bullpen for the key weekend series between the two AL East contenders. The 29-year-old right-hander has actually mostly pitched out of the pen this season, with 22 relief appearances compared to just four starts. Depending on how the Orioles move forward with the rotation, he could return to a starting role next week.
Worley currently has a 3.09 ERA, but a 4.55 SIERA, in 58 1/3 innings pitched in 2016. He is also the owner of a 16.06 percent strikeout rate and 8.84 percent walk rate this season.
